London 2012 Field Trips for Schools and Colleges

Guide

Founded in 1988 City & Village Tours is a multi award winning guided tour company. Our London Blue Badge Guides have taken over 100,000 adults & children to see the London 2012 venues since 2009.

We offer educational and entertaining tours of the London 2012 Olympic venues for schools and colleges that stimulate young minds and capture the interest of your students. A choice of commentary focus themes are designed to link to key stage studies and support classroom work.

How It Works

1. We offer tours that last one hour, two hours, three hours or a full day. Tell us how long you have and we will tailor the tour accordingly, making the most of the time you have.

2. By coach or by public transport?

If you come by coach we can cover a broader area as well as including a walking element. Our fees don’t include coach hire; you book your own coach locally or use a school vehicle but please make sure there is a seat for our guide and that it has a working microphone which our guide can use.  If you aren’t planning to come by coach we can use the underground and the Docklands Light Railway to reach the main viewing points in Stratford but not the Olympic Venues in Woolwich or Greenwich.

3. Finally having decided how long you have and how you will travel select the commentry focus theme appropiate to your studies.

How to Book

Booking is designed to be as straightforward as possible to accommodate the busy schedule of the teacher and the bureaucracy of the school.

To book email schools@cityandvillagetours.com or call us on 0845 812 5000.

  • One set fee covers up to 57 participants including all teacher and helper places.
  • We will hold your booking safe without deposit and without cancellation penalties right up to the payment due date which is just 14 days before the trip.  A pre-payment invoice will be issued at the time of booking.
  • Risk assessment notes to help facilitate the preparation of a safety management plan are available for teachers once the tour is booked.
  • Once payment has been made we invite the teacher to submit an email brief for the tour guide so that we can further tailor the tour to complement your class room studies.
  • In compliance with LEA requirements we hold £5 million public liability insurance.
  • Our guides are all London Blue Badge Guides fully accredited to the Olympic & Paralympic course.

Most of us plan to watch the Olympic Games at home but you can still be part of a moment in history. Our London Olympics trips are available throughout 2012 both before and after the Games. We aren’t supplying tickets for the Olympic Games which take place between 27 July & 15 August or for the Paralympic Games from 29 August to 9 September. You can book our Olympic itineraries right up to 24 July and then again from 10 September.

For security reasons everything remains on quarantine lockdown so during 2012 we will not be able to take you inside the Olympic Park. Access to the Greenway Olympic Park viewing point may be closed by May 2012 but dramatic new vistas of the Olympic Park have opened up especially from Westfield Stratford City and the new roads.

"Just a quick email to say thank you very much for organising our Olympic Trip in February.
The guides were particularly pleasant & informative & changed plans at the last minute due to the rain.
Victoria was brilliant & pitched her commentary just right for our girls. "

Once again – thank you!

"Thanks for your help with creating this tour for our year 7 girls. Jan..was excellent at bringing content into her talks that would interest the girls and hopefully when the Olympics are on next year they will remember what she told them."
